Numerical reasoning
You read a small table or chart about a business and answer a precise quantitative question: growth rates, cost totals, market shares, differences between scenarios. The math is arithmetic, not algebra. What makes it hard is that your time per question is recorded, so the skill being measured is accurate extraction done quickly rather than either one alone.

Invented example. Bramwell Logistics reports its delivery fleet costs. 2024: 45 vans at an average annual cost of 18,400 per van. 2025: 54 vans, average cost per van down 5 percent.
What was Bramwell's total fleet cost in 2025?
Answer: 943,920
New cost per van: 18,400 times 0.95 equals 17,480. Total: 17,480 times 54 equals 943,920. Two habits save you here: apply the percentage before multiplying by the new fleet size, and keep intermediate results written down so a slip does not silently propagate.
Verbal reasoning
A short passage, then a statement to classify as true, false or cannot say. The iron rule: judge the statement only against the passage, never against outside knowledge or plausibility. Most lost points come from answering true because something sounds likely, when the passage simply does not say it.

Invented example. Passage: Averline Foods is piloting reusable packaging in two of its nine markets. In participating stores, packaging waste fell 12 percent during the pilot. The company has not yet decided whether to extend the program.
Statement: Averline Foods will roll out reusable packaging to all nine markets. True, false or cannot say?
Answer: Cannot say
The passage says the decision has not been made, so the statement is not confirmed, but a future rollout is not ruled out either, so it is not false. That undecided middle is exactly what cannot say exists for. Train yourself to ask: does the text state it, contradict it, or neither?
Logical and abstract reasoning
Sequences of numbers or shapes governed by a hidden rule: find the rule, predict the next element. No business knowledge is involved. The efficient method is testing candidate rules in a fixed order, differences first, then ratios, then combined operations, instead of staring at the sequence hoping the pattern reveals itself.

What number comes next: 3, 7, 15, 31, ...?
Answer: 63
Check differences first: 4, 8, 16, doubling each time, so the next difference is 32 and the next term is 63. Equivalently each term is double the previous plus one. Testing differences before anything else resolves most numeric sequences in seconds.
Situational judgment
SOVA presents scenarios about everyday work situations: a slipping deadline, a disagreement in a team, an unclear instruction. The answer format is the signature of this test. Rather than picking one best response, you rate several candidate responses on an effectiveness scale, so a scenario can have more than one reasonable answer and the grading looks at how you separate them. There is no math here; the questions look for consistent professional judgment, taking ownership, communicating early, and escalating thoughtfully rather than silently struggling or blaming.
