Monitor runs on Deloitte's pipeline

There is no separate Monitor Deloitte recruiting process. Every Monitor page routes candidates to Deloitte's general careers site, and the assessment you sit is Deloitte's firmwide one. In the UK that means four published stages.

Step 1, apply online. Personal details and educational background, around 15 minutes, completed in one session. The typical academic bar is a 2:1 for graduates.

Step 2, the Immersive Online Assessment. Two components. A behavioural assessment built from "realistic workplace scenarios," where you rank actions "based on how you would most and least likely approach each situation." And a cognitive assessment covering numerical and verbal reasoning. Two rules matter here and they pull against each other: "there's no overall time limit for completing the assessment," but "some questions are timed, meaning the speed of your response will contribute to your score." Deloitte publishes no total duration.

Step 3, the Job Simulation. Ranking response options, selecting the most appropriate responses, writing answers and recording video responses. Deloitte describes it as focused on behavioural skills.

Step 4, the Final Stage Assessment. This is the one to plan for, because it requires work before you arrive: "we need you to complete some mandatory preparation which involves researching and conducting analysis on a topic." On the day it splits into a 30 to 40 minute two-way discussion of your prepared topic with an assessor, then a separate skills and motivation interview of around 50 minutes.

For entry-level apprenticeships and shorter programmes, steps 2 and 3 merge into a single assessment Deloitte calls OneStop. Feedback reports on your strengths follow both online stages, with results within four weeks.

The free practice platform most candidates miss

Deloitte runs its own practice site, Candidate Zone, where UK candidates can work through the actual assessment formats and question types before sitting them. It is free and linked from Deloitte's own assessment page. In the US, Deloitte publishes separate case and scenario interview preparation tools for entry-level candidates.

Deloitte US is also explicit about case interviews, which are how Monitor-track candidates are typically tested there: cases "represent real client engagements," and "the interview is not about getting the right answer, it's about how well you respond under pressure." Its published method runs understand the issue, identify underlying assumptions, summarise findings, state recommendations, outline next steps and impact.

AI, with teeth

Deloitte publishes the most detailed candidate AI policy of any firm on this site. Allowed: research, time management, researching your final stage assessment topic, and interview practice with AI feedback tools. Prohibited: during online assessments or simulations, during any interview, and sharing assessment content with AI tools afterwards. Deloitte states it has measures to detect AI-assisted responses, requires candidates to record a short integrity statement on camera before starting, and removes anyone found in breach.

Timing

UK openings are staggered. Consulting, which covers Monitor Deloitte, opens 5 October, as do Advisory and Enabling Functions. Scotland roles open 21 September, Audit, Legal and Tax on 28 September. Deloitte warns that it closes applications early when volume is high, and accepts one application per programme per academic year.
