Two different assessments, depending on where you apply
EY publishes more about its screening than almost any strategy firm, and what it publishes shows a clean split.
United Kingdom. EY calls stage two "immersive assessments," involving "rank order, written and recorded video answers" plus "a time-recorded Numeric Reasoning Test." It names the product and the timings: EY One, 60 minutes on average but variable by business area, and a 20-minute numerical reasoning test. A working webcam and microphone are required, EY recommends Chrome, and it advises completing an assessment in one sitting.
United States. The instrument is the Early Careers skills assessment, mandatory for Early Careers applicants. Three sections, two untimed and one timed, "typically takes 45 to 60 minutes to complete," and must be finished within 48 hours of the invitation. The invitation arrives from talentcentral@shl.com, which means it is delivered on SHL's platform. EY describes it as "designed to help us better understand your experiences, work style and approach to problem solving," and does not give candidates individual scores.
EY separately publishes a privacy notice for a "CAPP Finity Tool," describing it as assessing "competencies and aptitude of candidates using a digital psychometric assessment based on game technology," with responses processed by an algorithm to determine progression. EY does not connect that name to EY One, so treat the two as separate published facts rather than one confirmed product.
The Strategy case rounds
For EY-Parthenon Strategy in the UK and Ireland, the first round is two 25-minute case interviews led by consultants, run back to back with no biographical questions. That format catches people out: there is no warm-up. The final round is two slightly longer case interviews plus an interview with a member of senior leadership.
In the US, EY-Parthenon's Associate and Consultant programmes describe "a mix of behavioral and case-based interviews with multiple EY-Parthenon professionals," with offer decisions "typically communicated within a week from your interviews."
What EY says it is assessing
EY publishes a Strengths Framework used through its strengths-based online assessment, naming nine: adaptability, curiosity, collaboration, learning agility, resilience, relationship builder, integrity, personal ownership and motivation. It adds that written communication and numerical skills are assessed alongside.
AI is banned, and EY says how it enforces that
The US wording is unambiguous: "candidates should complete all sections of the assessment independently. Using generative AI tools or other assistance is prohibited." The platform monitors for screenshots, browser switching and tab changes. The UK version is broader and harder: any suspicion of assistance means "your assessment will be suspended, and your application could be rejected and/or any offer withdrawn," with EY reserving the right to take legal action.
Deadlines
EY publishes hard US dates. Consulting and EY-Parthenon roles posted 8 September 2026, deadline 22 September 2026. MBA internships for Consulting and EY-Parthenon posted 5 October, deadline 29 November. EY asks candidates to limit themselves to two applications within a six-month period, and the UK enforces one application at a time with a six-month wait after a rejection.
